Tamar is a photographer and multidisciplinary creative based in the Twin Cities.
Rooted in themes of connection, solitude, nature, and nostalgia, Tamar's work serves as a documentation of the world around her, as well as a display of her personal life and her journey through self-discovery. Through the making of her nature photographs and her exploration of the outdoors, she challenges the dominant representation of landscape photographers—white, male— and investigates a different narrative of the black experience. The imagery she creates explores the patterns and intricate details of her worlds that often go overlooked. Tamar seeks out the odd and unexpected qualities and frames them in a way that borders abstraction. In all of her work, whether it be portraiture, landscape, or commercial, she always strives to include elements of the natural world in her images.
Tamar holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Entrepreneurial Studies from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
